My new nightstand ($1.00 at a yard sale, plus $.39 for a knob ) and bedside lamp (freebie, plus $.25 for shade)
Not bad, just needed a bit of cleaning and a knob
Lamp was a trash find (I repainted it) and shade was a thrift store find --ugly, pleated and boring, but cheap.
After the makeover -- much better

You all know how hard it is to pass up free and cheap!  The only real story here is that shortly after buying the lampshade, my little grandson wanted to "help" carry it -- and , naturally, dropped it, TWICE, and cracked the plastic.  The size and shape were fine, but the cracks spoiled it, and I wasn't really crazy about the pleated fabric.  As I was ripping off the fabric to do "something", I decided to modge-podge torn pieces of recycled tissue paper over the whole thing. YES!  Sealed the cracks and I'm happy with the look.
