A table with a story to tell

I fell in love with the dark chocolate legs and scuffy white top and used the table plain for some time. And then one day, the right inspiration hit.
I created a decal/stencil, applied the decal to the surface of the table and painted through the letters.
The top and letters recieved a distressed treatment with a palm sander which brought everything to life.
The lettering was placed off center to resemble the top being created out of an old sign board.
And, the lettering I created tells a story.
I use to live in a little VILLAGE which I adored. It housed a saloon type shop in which I had always dreamed of owning, filled to the brim with wonderful junk.
So MERCANTILE it became.
EST 1927 is when my mom was born.
And thats my Funky Junk logo STAR.
So what does this story really mean?
The table reminds me of where I came from, what I love and who I am today because of it.
And suits my funky junk style house to a T!
Dont just paint those table tops... sign them. With meaning. :)
(story idea derived from artist friend Dan Sawatzky)

When I came across a sweet little round outdoor table at the thrift, I promptly plunked it inside instead. But it was a little plain.

Plain Jane no more, the little table now wears a new outfit with great pride! And.. she's also a great story teller. :)
