Before...Old Paint Chair

I picked up this old wooden chair many years ago, to use as a paint chair.  It is very solid and sturdy, and had about 30 different colors of paint spots on it from over the years.  About a year ago I gave it to my (then 8 year old) son for his desk in his room, with the promise that I would paint it to match his room.  I had originally planned to just paint it a solid color and leave it at that.  But then I got my hands on a Posh Tot catalog.  Their "Fishing Tales" theme inspired me to go for more!
I have never painted anything more then solid colors and a few faux finishes from time to time.  So this was my first adventure into an actual design.  I had always passed items on to my cousin who is the real talent in the family.
So I broke out my box of sample paints, and went at it.  My first draft was received by my son enthusiastically, until he started looking at it a bit closer.  After a few critics from (my now 9 year old) fishing expert on what an actual bass looks like, I came up with the final result that I posted.  When he came home from school, he was over the moon thrilled with it!  He brought all his neighborhood friends over to show it to them...and even when and got three of the neighbor ladies to come and look at his "Really Awesome Fish Chair!"  You really can't ask for anything more then that for a kudos!
