I distressed a piece of particle board and added some trim to it. I used Elmers glue to get the crackle effect.
I have two of these brown Braces. They are on the ends.
Top of the red braces. I love the patina! I sealed the braces with some spray poly. These are the second and fourth hooks.
The gray brace. Love the texture. This is the only one like this so its in the center.
I attached the braces to the board using pipe strapping I sprayed with a Hammered Metallic spray paint in Bronze.

I saw a Brace and Bit Coat Rack in one of Sue Whitney's books. I thought I'd give it a shot. I used the turquois color to match the other pieces in my entry way, which include a repurposed fish tank stand. I'm very happy with how this project turned out.

FrouFruGal writes: Thanks for the love! I've been seriously happy with mine, but I only wished I would have found the copper strapping before I finished mine. On a side note, check out the basket I ended up weaving from the strapping. The inspiration came to me while I was making this coat rack. http://froufrugal.blogspot.com/2010/08/metal-bling-basket_31.html Posted: 9:08 am on September 29th

Here's another member's version of this project if anyone wants to see it http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/item/16333/from-the-book-junk-beautiful. Love both of them! Now all I have to do is find the parts to do it!
