from brassy to classy

this is the before picture. It cost me $5 from the local thrift store.

This is my new candle-ier! Thank you so much to everyone that gave me advice in my last post! I first unscrewed the blulbs, then removed the plastic sleeves that look like the candles, then just started taking it apart, snipping and ripping. After all the wiring was removed, I put it back together and gave it a new coat of white paint.

I was tempted to do a funkier color, like turquoise, but white goes with everything. (And I can always change it later if I decide to.) I couldn't find any great bling for it yet, so for now it just has a simple strand of shells around it and it is hanging in my screened-in porch.

The little cups on the end of the arms are the perfect size for votives- it was meant to be I think.

PS- I like the ideas i got for my 'loner' piece of molding. I also think it'd look great hanging over a window. Now I am trying to figute out if I should paint it or not.

new2collecting writes: oh my i dont have a pic of mine yet but its solid brass and im sure i paid way too much for it- i need to replace the sleeves as is torn up- not sure what kind of crystals i will add or where to get them- i got some homemade small straight windchimes (single strand) im thinking of using.
