Any suggestions for these?

So I bought two coil springs off of my neighbor..I thought they were cool.  Last year we redesigned our back porch (now my favorite place in the house) and I was thinking of placing them out back.  I thought I might cut the coils in half, heat the bottom coil until it collapses and becomes even enough to insert a glass container to create a candle holder. So many ideas...what to do?  Any ideas?

Mine looks just like yours and after cutting in half stands up perfectly by setting on the tail (uncut) end. I did that after seeing Lanette's post. She used one as a flower vase -- very cool (like everything she does). She posted it on April 3, and you can find it on page 6. Or go to the front page and scroll down and you'll find it too. It's very inspiring.
