I have had this in my shop for years doing what it was designed for, holding drill bits, but I got a new bit holder and had to find something else for this to do.
This is its temporary home, next to my sons computer, it will make its way to my office shortly.
This is the side view, as you can see it is pretty deep so it will need to sit on a bigger desk, luckily my new digs will have just such an animal.
I will miss having this drill gauge handy in my shop, might have to steal that...

This was just a simple re-purpose project. I picked this up at a farm auction back in 02 and it has been holding bits in my shop until now. I found another, more compact, bit holder for the shop so I decided to put this to good use organizing desk junk.

I just wished I had been around to snag all the things he said he threw away. I use my bit holder in my shop for bits, trying to keep in step but your idea is a great one!
