fellowjunker writes: Hey Christina,
Don't worry about using a plain tray...I have tried this on trays with a pattern as well....you can still see the pattern under the paint, but it is discreet and I think it looks pretty.

Christina_S writes: So pretty! I've been wanting to try this for awhile but I have been a little scared. Do you need to use a tray that is completely smooth on the part you want to add the chalkboard paint to? Seeing how dazzling yours are makes me want to increase my bravery :) Posted: 5:19 pm on May 3rd

fellowjunker writes: Hi...just to answer a couple of the questions...
Shamrockerin: I like to use a primer first which preps the metal to receive the paint...then spray with a few coats of the chalkboard spray paint.
Kenda: So frustrating to have the paint peel...yes, that has happened to me too....now what I do is score the edges of the tape with an exacto knife...it breaks the seal so the tape lifts up without pulling up the paint. I do think that the black marker would be a good solution for filling in!!
Hope that helps.

MimiToria writes: These are great Janis, and currently sitting in my livingroom everyone. :) I get to see them first hand and they are very cool. Janis shipped them to me for the event in Minnesota next week, since she's flying in and wouldn't have much room for such items. She has some great stuff for the show, so hopefully everything will fly off the displays for her. :)
Can't wait to meet dear Janis in person. We've been Junk Market pals and email pals for about 1 1/2 years now, so a dream for me to actually meet her. So excited for this event Sue is sponsoring. Thanks Susi Q!

RustyDiva writes: Hola Janis, I finally did this project with a little round silver tray that looks similar to yours in picture #1. It's in my kitchen and has "Bella" chalked on it for now. When I pulled the tape, my edges frayed a little so I sprayed it again and pulled the tape while it was still damp and it still frayed. Any suggestions? (I thought about getting a black permanent marker and just filling it in) Unless you have a more sophisticated solution. :)

P.S. YOURS was the inspiration so thank you!!!!! Posted: 3:26 pm on April 29th
shamrockerin writes: did you apply the cvhalkboard paint right onto the silver platters, or is there a 'layer' in between there? I'd like to try to make one soon! :) Posted: 2:13 pm on April 29th
