My Swap Junk BEFORE project 1-Racers7

I used my woodburning tool to write different key phrases around the outside.  I wanted to varnish or paint it but I like its rustic appeal.  I painted the letters red with snippets of the magazine glued to it.  I might change it to white though, maybe.
My cool trashy treasures from Junk Partner Tracey (whimsical cottage).
The first project (which took the longest) I changed was the little wood cabinet door with a glass panel on the upper part...
...into a key holder display.  The glass panel is decoupage with pictures from the Life magazine.  The bottom panel is covered with some of the fabric.  I can also tack notes on the fabric panel.
This is before I put the word KEYS on. Here is a close up of the glass panel which is covered with torn pictures of a house and cars from the LIFE magazine.  I also used the S&H green stamps.  I stained it with a dark varnish to weather it.

When my Junk Swap partner Tracey a.k.a. whimsicalcottage sent my box I had addressed it back to my job because I couldn't wait to get home for it!  Thank you Tracey for such cool treasures!  My lot contained:

-2 pieces of fabric (funky and country) -a green measurement board -alphabet card for the letter M -several vintage drawer pulls and 1 hook -1972 LIFE mag -S&H green stamps -oklahoma license plate - a small cabinet door.  I took my time with several projects but I'm posting my first one with the little cabinet door.

WhimsicalCottage writes: Melody! How cute! I'm so impressed with your project and I'm tickled to death that you loved the funky red material (like I did). I also like that you incorporated the S&H green stamps and magazine pictures. I'm (mostly mentally) working on using the cool things you sent me. Stay tuned!

Your junk partner.
