This old camp toaster has been kicking around for awhile, and I finally decided to do something with it. Like many other things around here, it became a light fixture!
For now, by day, it isnt much to look at, but we have it on all evening. makes runs to the fridge during commercials much easier by lighting the way!
It casts the most beautiful shadows on the wall at night. I tried to capture some of them to give you an idea.
Each side has a different colored glass. I copper foiled each piece, then also foiled the wire toast rack on each side and soldered them together.
This is the base, left over from some old broken lamp. I bought a smaller, clear bulb and the toaster fit perfectly over the top of it. NOT pretty I know, but no one will ever see it! (Oops, not anymore!!)

An old camping toaster became a soft night light.

prim_cindy writes: I hadn't seen this post until I posted today, a toaster I made into a lamp also...love the style of yours! Mine was an old electric one I found at an antique shop and so not real valuable, to rewire it as a lamp. It is always fun seeing what everyone is making here! Also, the scales is awesome!! oldnews writes: Melody, All I did was use old lamp parts. I had one of those free standing light bulb holders - just a ceramic base with a cord - then bought a small clear bulb and the toaster just sits on top perfectly. I will add a picture of it! It isn't pretty - no one can see it! :) Marie Posted: 11:40 am on March 19th
