Faux Ribbon NecklaceFebruary 11th, 2010 in member junk
Hand dyed and hand stamped vintage seam binding becomes a quick faux ribbon necklace. Simply stamp some ribbon or seam binding and secure with a vintage pin or brooch. I used pins, vintage clip back earrings and rhinestone hair clip.
It's so easy. Gather up some 1/2 inch ribbon in length you like, rubber stamp of your choice and ink pad suitable for fabric and stamp away. It does take some time as the ribbon is pretty narrow. Simply hold one end and drape around your neck as many times as you like. Secure both ends with a pretty pin, brooch or clip. Depending on the length this can also be wrapped around your waist. You could wrap like a headband and secure with a barrette...or wrap around hairband secure ends with glue and embellish with all sorts of goodies.
I used vintage rayon seam binding since it is very light and silky. The golden and the peach were first hand dyed. Lengths shown are: Golden 3 yards, silver 3 yards, peach is 6 yards.
The bonus is when you tire of wearing it as a necklace it can be used as regular ribbon.
Next time I show another project using this. Thanks so much for stopping by!
