Im starting to dip my toe in the water of the big wide world lighting and am coming up with some pretty wild and fun stuff. Youve probably seen some of my surveyors tripod lamps and although they are cool, Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn are doing them too, so its time to step it up and out of the box.
Enter the Sun Kraft! These sun lamps were a staple in the the 1940s as used to help men, women and children achieve the health benefits of ultraviolet light
Check out this video from 1946 explaining the invention of the Sun Kraft. I especially love how the inventor is smoking a cigarette and drinking his milk at the beginning...
I really like the lines of this guy and decided to make a desk lamp out of one I found at the Alameda Antiques & Collectibles Fair.
Jack, my lighting guru, put it together for me and even made the timer dial a dimmer. It is one sweet ride.Check out the duel cords wrapping up the side. Love.
We even sassed it up with an old style (but new) halogen bulb. It throws out 100 watts of pure style!

Wonder what happened to it! Thanks for sharing all of this with us! It's just what my Friday needed!! Marie Posted: 8:05 pm on February 5th
JunkArchitect writes: Jenny K, such a cool vintage, industrial repurpose. I can’t believe you found one of these in such great shape. I want a pair of those funky sunglasses and the company signage on the front of the factory. Cigarettes and milk…I’m sure the old dude has a couple shots of whiskey in the milk.
