Our First Garden Fountain in 2007December 18th, 2009 in member junk
My first garden fountain came about when I went to dog sit at the Hiwassee River in 2007. I was there a week and we lived right on the river. I fell in love with the rivers stones that just sparkled in the water and they just looked so different in water than out of the water.
So, being the collector I am, I had to bring some stones home and ended up a couple of trips later with enough stones to make a small garden fountain.
One day when in a consignment shop I spotted the perfect pottery bowl when I was not looking for it of course. But, I knew this was it! I went on to get two square metal plates for a good Fung Shui look and feel. Okay, my part was done! ( Grins)
Now, two years ago, I did nothing with machinery so my husband Bob drilled a hole in the middle of each plate and assembled the store-bought fountain kit with the bowl on bottom and two square plates aligned opposite each other with square edges opposite. Definitely good Fung Shui!
We added the Large river stones to the pottery bowl and smaller stones to the plates to level the weight for the water to drip off the plate edges.
This has been fine until this year 2009, when the plastic fountain pipe cracked and it would not sit straight. We disassembled it and needed to find a pipe to go up the center pole in the middle of the fountain that will hold the weight of the metal plates and rocks.
In the meantime I found the Pewter Bowls for Fountain 2, and will continue to look for a stronger pole base to hold this fountain upright again. Any ideas?
