Heres the horizon, its pretty old, and wed be sideways right now if it was accurate!
I couldnt imagine doing all this work and just throwing it away. So of course I snatched it up.
Ah just the right look to frame it all together. I heart rivets!
The complete quote:  To fly! to live as airmen live! Like them to ride the skyways from horizon to horizon, across rivers and forests! To free oneself from the petty disputes of everyday life, to be active, to feel the blood renewed in ones vein - ah! That is life... Life is finer and simpler. My will is freer. I appreciate everything more, sunlight and shade, work and my friends. The sky is vast. I breathe deep gulps of the fine clear air of the heights. I feel myself to have achieved a higher state of physical strength and a clearer brain. I am living in the third dimension! - Henri Mignot

This is a gift for my dad. His hobby is building airplanes and occasionally getting to fly his 'experimental' aircraft. I made this out of spare airplane parts and rivets, mounted on some grey wood. The inspiration is this Beechcraft artificial gyro horizon I found on Ebay. it fit perfectly with a scrap piece of sheet metal he had formed into a panel for his RV-6, but discarded a few years ago. (He's much more of a perfectionist than me!) It will look familiar when he gets it back, and hopefully this finished piece inspires him to fly again soon, and that good things are always on the horizon.

CleverThinker writes: The thing I like most about junking or 'junque-ing' is when it gets personal like this! You have an eye, and you took off with it....but to take your personal view of this junque and make it personal for your dad is a double whammy....you get extra points on this one! Great landing!!!
