Who wouldnt want to be greeted by a giant Christmas ornament.  Thank you Walt Disney.
I wanted this portable so I used a metal bucket fitted with boards with a center hole.  I weighed down with rocks and added greens.
I simply hung the giant ornament from shepherds hook with ribbon.
I just used spray paint on the globe.  I added a few coats of poly, but still not sure how long it will hold up in West Michigans fierce winters.
Dont tell anyone, but the cap is really just a cat food can.  Im sorry!! -- the tuna fish can just wasnt the perfect size.  Then I just epoxyed to the globe.

Who wouldn't want to be greeted by a giant Christmas ornament.  Thank you Walt Disney.

While watching a Christmas decorations special a few weeks ago, host David (HGTV no-shirt guy) was giving a tour of Disneyland at Christmastime.  He pointed to some giant ornaments on a giant Christmas tree.  When he questioned how they were custom ordered and manufactured, the Disney person sheepishly said "Well, actually, they are just globes."   WHOA!!!  You can imagine how this junker's ears perked up and heart began going pitter patter.

So I SO wanted to make giant ornaments.  But I couldn't come up with a reasonable way to use one (or several).  Bummer.  THEN, I saw Lani's post on her OUTSIDE decorations and I saw her dangling bell (I think maybe she had seen the same program).  Aha, OUTSIDE.  So I decided it should hang from a shepherd's hook and greet holiday visitor's.  I put it in a bucket so it would be portable and added a few jingle bells and a message tag.  Not sure if it stills needs something, but anything giant is always fun!
