I added some little knob feet to this old mirrored tray.
Very easy and very inexpensive Christmas fun!!

What can I say.....I LOVE GLITTER!!!!!  Early this fall I went around to several thrift stores collecting a variety of inexpensive brass pieces that seem to be abundant wherever you go.....after giving them a coat of black spray paint, I brushed on decoupage medium and glittered away.

fellowjunker writes: Hi All,
I see some of you were wondering what type of glitter I used.....not sure what it was called, but it was just ordinary glitter from the craft store. A lot of people are in to the german glass glitter, but it tarnishes so for this project I just used ordinary glitter that you sprinkle on.
Hope this helps!

snowyowl writes: Love it - great idea for not so pretty junk you always find. I wonder how diamond dust will do or German Glimmer - both very shinny. German Glimmer is crushed glass and I think diamond dust too but they really sparkle and are a frostly white. Posted: 2:51 pm on December 16th
chezdoublewide writes: I love this! I get the biggest kick out of seeing something that I just happen to own transformed by some brilliant jms contributor. Get this - I have all three of these items! Both trays AND the candleholder! Of course, mine are langishing in cupboards or out in the junk shed, unadorned and forlorn. Now I finally know what to do with them - i think I'll go with pink glass glitter(still not tired of pink!) Thanks for the awesome idea. Posted: 6:55 pm on December 15th
Tiffany1478 writes: So pretty! I think sparkle makes everything better.
I have a few questions - what kind of glitter did you use? Just regular cheapo craft glitter or a higher end brand? And did you spray it afterwards with something to seal the glitter to keep it from flaking off? That's my main complaint with decor like this. I LOVE the look, but having 2 cats, I can't risk them ingesting glitter flakes. Do you know of anything that could "shalack" the final product and prevent the "glitter rain," as I call it :)
I love your creativity renewing spirit. Happy Holidays!

I kinda have a glitter problem. I like to send birthday packages filled with confetti, and the more glittery the better.

To this day, three years later, I am still finding glitter and small confetti from our wedding.

I think what you've done is absolutely beautiful. Posted: 3:00 pm on December 10th

Take care,

itsnotjunk2me writes: WOW! What a transformation and perfect for Christmas decor! I'm not a fan of brass anymore and this is a great idea to change it up for the holidays (liking the basecoat of black). Love the sparkle and bling-would look great on a mantel with tiny light strings to reflect even more! ~judi ;) Posted: 8:57 am on December 10th
