I guess you can tell by now that my bedroom is pink and chocolate.  My oasis, my sanctuary!
It all started with two of these yummy old doors.
Heres a close up of proof that Im a bit of a pyro!
I love the way the original finish on the doors is alligatored.  It looks like leather in person.
Here is a better picuture of the tile.  I like the mix of black and brown.  I also mixed up the papers to give it some variety.

Over the last 2 years, I have slowly been creating an oasis out of my bedroom.  It started with Ballerina pink walls and Chocolate trim.  Then came various pieces of antique furniture I've collected over the years.  What was lacking was a King size headboard and nightstand to complete my plan.  Nightstand accomplished (Nite Nite Nightstand post) and now for the headboard.  These are two thrift store doors for $6 each attached on the back with hinges.  I painted to match and added the legs off my headboard that is my address marker outside (Head on Over post).  I found plain black tiles at the thrift store for .50 each and Mod Podged scrapbook paper to them after burning the edges ~ for effect ~ and to play with matches! ha

I attached the tiles to the bed using mirror clips.  They fit perfectly into the recessed portion of the doors (top and bottom)  I also discovered that the tiles make great art for the wall too.  I can add paper to match any decor and mount one or more in a grouping.  Best thing is I get to Mod Podge again!!  Told ya I was hooked.

The chandelier in the corner just completes it!! Thanks for your idea about using doors for the King Size bed. I have searched for YEARS to find a headboard for that size mattress and never found anything. Now you give me hope. Maybe after the Holidays, I can go out looking for doors for our bed (that's sounds weird, but you know what I mean, don't you???).

Excellent work, my friend, gailmarie Posted: 3:53 pm on December 3rd
