Numbers, letters, words, and signs are all great junkables to give as gifts this year. They can signify a special date and bring back fond memories. Be on the look out for these as you're shopping the junk pile!! I will wear this necklace from Gretchen and Lani in the spirit it was given...with affection!
Celebrate good times, come on!! You know me...always have to bring a song into the mix. There was music playing throughout the festivities and a few of us dancing who maybe should not have been. I was one of them, but I think Kimberly got her dance lessons from Elaine on Seinfeld. Ha!!
Back to this beauty of a necklace. I thought the girls were giving me a hard time with the crystal that was added to this necklace. If you look closely at my posts and book and magazine images I employ the crystal ofen...but only onre kind, the tear drop like this one. I thought maybe they were suggesting I try a new variety, but alas it was just about good design. They touched a soft spot withput even knowing it. Before I forget, please join me in congratulating Gretchen. She and her jewelery designs were featured in a ginormous and well deserved article in the Home and Garden section of the Minneapoie Star and Tribune. Check it out. You're amazing Gretchen!

Wow, look at this litle lovely! I'm not sure what this is, but I do know it is stunning. She's very angelic so that is what she will become. She will be part of my holiday decor from this day forward.
Tied to the angels skirt was a very special note from one of our members, Chipping Charm. It made me cry when I read it. My job here at JMS is to inspire, spread the word, breath new life into the junking community, and celebrate others...not to compete. It touches my heart when someone tells me I have provided inspiration and instilled confidence. Thank you so much Laurel. Special handmade cards are another great way to show someone you care this holiday season.
I'm always talking about the little details. Lovely ribbon, some bling, and a washer. Now that's what I call perfect "junktoposition"! Who came up with that word? I love it!
Enter the Pfarkle sisters....Sharon, Diane, and Janel. You gotta love these girls! After taking care of the JUNKMARKET crew in Oronoco they were supposed to have the night off. Nope, not so much. There they were in the kitchen helping with the chili and dogs. Sorry about biting the cheese bag open, I hope you will forgive me! This architectural piece from the sistas also has great meaning. It came from Sharon's house. It was removed, but she could not re-use it at her home....lucky for me. Now that's what I call from my home to yours!! I'm not sure what it will become or if it will just remain a show piece. Only time will tell. The homemade jerky?? I'm still enjoying it! Thank you!
Ah, hahahaha! OK, so here's the gift that was not homemade, but oh so welcome. There was more than one bottle, but for photography reasons I just selected one. I guess somebody picked the grapes and stirred the vat! Am I right? Good friends, wine, flowers, food, and junkables made for a very special and memorable celebration. You all know me so well!
Lani, Amy (now pronounced Amie with a short A), Gretchen, The Rockler girls, Kim and Lin. The Pfarkle sisters, Don our architectural connection from Iowa, Junker Midge (Noreen), Donna (Nebraska Junker) and family, Chipping Charm (Laurel), The crazy country Junkers, Mark, Kimberly, and Elizabeth....Thank You! Your gift of friendship is much appreciated.
For pictures of the partay check me out on facebook. I'm sure there will be pictures surfacing in the next day or two!!

First and foremost, as I and JMS enter a new year I wanted to reach out to each and evryone at JMS to say thanks so much for all of your kindness and support throughout the past year. You have no idea how much I appreciate being a part of this warm and wonderful community. I've gotten to know many of you in person (the Pfarkels may regret this after our camping experience) and others of you through your creative posts and witty online banter. You all feel like family to me, and seriously....what more could a girl ask for?! I am truly blessed, so once again ...thanks to all for being absolutely fabulous.
Secondly, during my birthday celebration I noticed something truly wonderful going on and wanted to share it with you. Not only did I receive the gift of smiling junkers knocking at my door, but there were also some presents. What a delightful and truly unexpected surprise. As you might imagine these gifts weren't your run-of-the-mill, store bought gifts. Hahahaha...anything but!! OK, maybe one of the items was (as you will see), but this is a neccessity at celebratory events. The holidays are just around the corner and I would like to suggest that we all follow suit and take the "let's not buy anything new" pledge. The art of gift giving is alive and well in our junking community. Gifts with a history and those that are handmade are incredibly thoughtful, beautiful, and special. I want to share a few of them with you and as you will see these could not be purchased at your local department store. So please, make someone feel very special this year and give them the gift of junk! I've already started my pile and am adding to it everyday. I'm telling you there is nothing like finding something on the junk pile that you know will put a smile on a friend's face. If you do it this way, the giving is truly as much fun as the receiving!
Lastly, I would love to have the opportunity to get to know more of you personally. Someone on the site (please pipe up, because I can't remember who had this fabulous idea) suggested a "Junker's Reunion". I love the idea! If you are interested in such an event, please email your ideas, suggestions, recommendations, or a simple ...you name the date and I'm on my way!! If we attempt such an undertaking we want to make sure to get it right and offer up what all of you junking folks are looking for. Don't be shy, I want to know your thoughts on the subject. Please email me at junkmarketstyle@gmail.com.
OK, gots to go now, but thanks again for a great year and I look forward to the coming one with unbridled anticipation!
Cheers,
Sue

PS Thanks again to the Pfarkel Sisters for helping me make the muffins. Again, you were indispensable! Where'd we be with out you? Or Don from Iowa for that matter. He'd have been stuck with another $80 cab ride!!!! Posted: 11:03 pm on September 20th
The Pfarkel's truly enjoyed the party! Your house feels like home the minute you walk in the door, being greeted by Lilly and the great hug and warm welcome from you. I am glad that you posted photos of the gifts and not the partiers. The Pfarkel's have been doing handmade items for the holidays and birthdays since the 80's and it is always exciting to see what each one of us comes up with. Can't wait for the next party and we usually feel comfortable helping the the kitchen--we don't do windows!
It was a great crowd of old friends and a few new ones, we just did not stay up until 5AM like some. We had to get Don back safely to his motel.
GREAT time full of laughs, sharing, friendship and Hugs AND pictures!!
I will help plan a reunion if you wish my help

Enjoyed seeing some of the gifts as I didn't really see them when they came in and loved to see the great gift and note that Laurel presented and the lovely architectural piece from the Pfarkle sisters. I do know this, that once again I so enjoyed my time with you and the rest of my junking family. Everyone is so awesome and your home is so cozy for gatherings and junk hugs. I had a blast!

She will be lovely in your Christmas decor. She is actually the top to an old wood stove...in case you were wondering. The rest of the stove fell into a rusty pile when we tried to move it but I was able to salvage this piece. I figured it would make a funky junk trophy/award for our esteemed "Queen of Junk" :)
Thanks again for letting us "invade your space". Your home is truly a work of art...the details are amazing! I was honored to celebrate your birthday with you and the other JMS junkers. Blessings, Laurel Posted: 9:28 pm on September 20th
