This solid oak piece was posted on Freecycle as an antique bench with mirror. (Its more of a short dresser or maybe a washstand?) I expected it to be REALLY ugly, but was pleasantly surprised! The mirror is shown in another photo. Ill post after photos once its all done!
The mirror is big and heavy! Its almost 5 feet tall. The whole piece mounts to the back of the dresser/washstand base; the mirror part is framed and tips forward/back, It is held in place by side pins.
So, should I put this mirror piece back on the base or do something different with them? Im torn. Id like to add a cushion to the base for an entry bench. The two parts of the mirror could become a memo board and a small table top or even a mirror on the wall. Any and all other ideas welcome!
This was rescued from my neighbors trash. They were going to pay someone to haul it away! Im not sure how old it is or what it was, but it could become a kitchen island or stay a great workbench/potting table in our garage. Theres lots of storage in its eight tip-out bins. Any ideas?

I'm still surprised. And happy.

Melaniedola writes: I have an almost identical dresser with mirror. I have never seen one like this before mine! It could also make an awesome TV stand if you don't put the mirror back onto it. Just curious as I am trying to find more information on my piece, does yours have a name or anything on it. Do you have any idea how old it is? Posted: 7:03 am on April 18th

I vote for the kitchen island - and hope to see a picture of the finished project - whatever you decide to do with it! It's aawesome.

And the mirrored dresser - is super cool too! Lucky you!

I'd clean it up, paint it, change the top if needed, and put it on some casters. Can you tell I'm excited for you!! Can't wait to see what you do with this stash of th good stuff. Have fun!

Take care,
