My Grandma is finally moving to a smaller home, and has offered up piles of good stuff for us! This afternoon, I was delighted to find her dining room buffet stacked with old cookbooks and recipes. I picked out the yellow recipe box, which I remember going through over and over when I was learning to cook. Also, a vintage "Warren" (Pennsylvania) cookbook and a "Grace Before Meals" book that I am going to incorporate into my Thanksgiving centerpiece. The cracker holder in the back is an original - I made it when I was about 9 years old at the Salvation Army Wood Workshop that we attended in the 70's.

The old cookbooks are priceless, good thing grandma saved them. I love your little cracker holder. Aren’t you glad it’s still around after all these years.

chippingcharm writes: I LOVE sentimental treasures...the Grace Before Meals book will look wonderful in your centerpiece. I will definitely keep in touch about the occasional sale (my recent Happy Junker Post) I'm thinking next Spring and Fall??? Yes, it would be great to have someone to coorespond with! The whole idea is a little scary but very exciting isn't it??? Thanks for posting, Laurel Posted: 8:28 am on September 2nd

junkermidge writes: How special! I hope you have lots of fun with the recipes from grandma (aren't those always the best kind?). The book will be wonderful inspiration for your centerpiece. And how cool that you got back a piece from your childhood (grandma must have held on to it because it was made by YOU. awwww.)
