Natures Junk repurposed into either a stool or small end table
I think it is perfectly imperfect.  I love all the cracks, bumps and scars from nature.
Just three stumpy little feet to raise it off the ground.  It can be used as a foot stool, end table or extra seating!

OK, so instead of dumpster diving the other day, I went a little nature diving.  I saw this tree trunk on the side of the road and had to have it.  The bark was already stripped and I loved the color and texture.  My kids on the other hand were wondering what the heck Mommy was doing putting a tree in the back of the car.  I just sanded it, sealed it and added some feet.  It is on my screened porch right now but it is sealed for the outdoors too.  I am on a hunt to find more so I can create a cute sitting area outside!  I love nature and all its goodness!

I used leftover sealer from my outdoor deck b/c it was on hand and free. I don't have the can anymore but if you check in the deck stain/sealer section of a Home Improvement store you can find something. I bet marine varnish would work great too.
Hope that helps.

Renwoman writes: A huge and beautiful trunk was left (still in the ground,) in our backyard, and rather than destroy it, we decided to use it for a critter feeder. We have a small water bowl, which the birds bathe in, and two dishes for food (wild bird seed with sunflower seeds,) which is shared by, squirrels, chipmunks, and a large assortment of birds. treasuresfromtheshed writes: I would love to know what you used for the finish, we removed two huge trees on the side of our house a year ago and when the pieces were dropped of course the bark fell off so I asked to keep several pieces to use. Now I would like to seal them before they get ruined! Thanks! Posted: 2:53 am on July 31st
