The UTZ pretzel containers I use to store sewing notions fit nicely on this.
I attached simple D-rings to the back and used heavy-duty picture hooks to hang as the crate is surprisingly light.

This wooden packing crate for bottles was found discarded on the streets of Tokyo when we were ex-pats living overseas in Japan.  (Japan is a junkers paradise as most living quarters are not conducive for much storage--hence incredible things you find thrown out on the street on garbage pick-up day!)  For years I used this crate on the floor to hold wrapping paper and wallpaper rolls.  I only recently decided to turn it into a shelf in my sewing room.
