Scrapping for Junkers

No wonder these two thrive in the drama department! When they make it big on Broadway they'll have this little momento to remember how it all began.
What will you need to make one of these! First off you'll need a wire mesh piece of junk that I believe was used in a restraunt fryer. Check your local antique stores, flea market, or used-restaraunt supply store. The other materials include a scissors, spray photo mount, a scrap booking tag or two, a 4" by 6" painter's canvas, double-sided adhesive dots, and a marker. Oh yes, you'll need a photo!
Trim your photo to create a white border. Spray photo mount adhesive on back of picture and attach to canvas.
Attach a double-sided adhesive dot to each of the 4 back corners of the canvas.
Now you get to stick the canvas on the wire mesh. It's easy to make sure the canvas is straight because the grid system is right there for you! These little dots are very sticky and work well for this type of mounting.
Pul out your scrap booking tag of choice and place it above the photo. These already have an adhesive strip on the back.
In about 10 minutes your project will be done and you will be ready to hit the beach.
This so quick and easy I went for a 3 pack!

During my recent trip to the used restaraunt supply store I uncovered these little fryer gadgets and just had to have them. I love, love, love this kind of junk! I knew immediately what I was going to do with these and couldn't get home fast enough to get working on the transformation. The frames I crafted have an industrial feel with a touch of cool cottage making them perfect for my daughter's bedroom.

They don't have the same appeal when they aren't rusty and old, but for $1.50 I'm willing to try to age them myself or let time take it's course (they sell for around $10.00 a piece on ebay used - wish I could find them cheaper used).
This is a great, GREAT project. Thanks for sharing. I just went and ordered a bunch of these to make Christmas presents since our family gives homemade gifts. I think I'm going to get some little alligator clips or something so the pictures can be easily changed out. Posted: 2:41 pm on June 29th
