Once upon a screen door
June 10th, 2009 in member junkLots of other wonderful door projects have been posted and it's fun to see them all...This is not very original, just another variation, and is actually the 2nd repurposed life for this simple door. It began as a summer house screen door that was about to be discarded after being replaced---of course I rescued it! Removed the ripped screens and first used it in my son's room as a headboard over a platform double bed. Turned lengthwise it fit perfectly. We hammered in a few nails and hooks and it was the perfect backdrop for displaying numerous athletic medals, and running race bibs. When the bed got replaced I decided the door frame could still have a purpose in the bedroom, so painted it black and added some hooks. The rescued-from-the-trash mirror (which is framed in a wood-look plastic) was just the right size for the top half of the door.
