finished project - mosquito netting added

I took an old army cot and dressed it up for a relaxing spot on the back porch, under a tree or just about anyplace.

I used vintage fabrics and covered a queen size feather down comforter I had purchased at a close-out store. I stuffed it into the cot size cover I had made. When I made the cover, I added ruffles and an underskirt of vintage crocheted lace and muslin. I added two pillows at each end. One pillow is a standard bed pillow in a vintage fabric sham I made and the other is a toss pillow in vintage fabric with a crocheted doily. The toss pillow is filled with polyfil.

I set this under a new mosquito net, which I thought added a sense of the perfect get-away.

(thank you all for your words of encouragement and praise. i wish there was a better way to communicate with you all - like a board or something - or even emails)

thanx,

troy

georgiamoon writes: I have admired a lot of the projects put up by our friend TroyRash but this one stuck in my mind for a long time. I love how he took such and ordinary and utilitarian item and transformed it into a lush, serene, and beautiful, place to take a little cat nap or just kick back and enjoy the afternoon. The cot now has such a romantic and charming look to it that NO ONE would be able to guess at it's humble origins. Fantastic job and a beautiful post.
