I used my corner shelf (4 shelves to be exact) to lay out all the treasures Bridget sent me...oh my gosh!
Awesome bottles, big and small, the little seashell girl is sweet (she has a little sister too!) - yarn, metal sign, cute little altered art girl, and stuff...
Bingo did she know that was on my shopping list...and love the little decoupaged wood piece - great for the 4th of July - so cute!
I love the vintage jar that she wired and beaded - itll be great outside for a candle at dinnertime - or even to put some flowers in...inside...a great pencil holder...lots of possibilities!  And all the little vintage angels and the pics too - great collage stuff!  And a tube of buttons - I can always use those!!!
And, I love vintage Christmas ornaments - these are aged to perfection!  And see all the great rusty handles,, love!

I used my corner shelf (4 shelves to be exact) to lay out all the treasures Bridget sent me...oh my gosh! Texas-sized junk swap package arrived a little over a week ago (I'm still finding more stuff in the box...ha ha!!).  Bridget (aka bridiemurphy) was my partner for this swap.  She so generously sent me some wonderful stuff - I can use it for collages, decoupaging, and a whole lot of other fun things.

She sent a great jar that she wired and beaded - it'll have lots of use!  And the old bottles (something you can never have too many of...right??) - they're already on display - along with all of the great antique handles...  A cute little decoupaged wood piece - ready for the Fourth of July!  And a couple cute little vintage napkins...way too much to list it all - but, it'll all get used eventually... :)

When I opened up the box, I just kept taking out piece after piece, and it felt like I was getting into Mary Poppins' carpet did it all fit???  And ideas kept coming.  Right now I have some on display, and some down on my workbench to use on some projects I have in mind.

Thank you Bridget - I love it all and will use it all!!!  Loved the cookies too! Junk swaps are a blast, and a great way to get to know other junkers all over the place.  (Looking forward to the next one.)  And thanks to Rachel for putting us together!  I know she's a busy, busy girl!!

Bridget - hope you enjoyed the squirrel paws! (do you need a refill?) ;)

bridiemurphy writes: Fun, fun, fun. Guess what...there's more ready for the next swap! Like any of us really NEED any of it? Though, what a fantastic display of disparate items...I've attempted post of my goodies from you, Kathy, but the picture size is always too big. I've gotta get a new computer...I'm unable to manuever this site as I should? hmph.

So glad you've enjoyed the package, and YES, the squirrel treats were AMAZING! Posted: 10:25 am on May 5th
shabbychick writes: AtticusFinch - thanks so much for the background on my two little angels - on the back of the larger one it says "sunflower angel" - special edition - 1996; the little one is holding a heart and is stamped 1986. They're very sweet.

Thanks Eileen & Gretchen - Bridget really outdid herself! :)

OK's on my "to do" list!!

AtticusFinch writes: Oh Kathy, I recognize the seashell angels. She was made by Margaret Furlong from Oregon. I have almost her whole collection (as she is not making them any longer). My Mom started my collection back in 1981 and I got one each year until her studio closed 2002-ish (can't remember). She made a series of tree toppers, pocket full of stars, box of shells each out of bisque porcelein. Each year the angel was holding something different. Originally there were 3" angels, then she expanded to a 2, 4 & 5" each hold a different item (dove, trumpet-1981, sun, bouquet, starfish, heart and more). If you'll notice the back of her shell dress should be stamped with the year she was made. If I remember correctly Margaret began the angels as a tribute to her daughter, who probably is now a young adult.

You have a rare find. Posted: 9:24 pm on May 1st

shabbychick writes: This is my third swap - it's so much fun - the giving and receiving!! And another way to get to know fellow junkers...

There's one every few months or so - so, Rachel will probably put out a post to let people know when the next one will be.

Bridget's package was really amazing - and I'll be enjoying my gifts for quite a while. It was definitely like Christmas...

Merry junking, Kathy :)
