Feeling A Little Starry-Eyed
November 15th, 2009 in member junkLike many of you, I already have Christmas on the brain. So when I was perusing my local online auction, all things red were jumping out at me. One particular listing caught my eye, it was not only red, but looked like stars -- many stars! The problem was that they came attached to farm equipment.
But it's really not a problem when you have a metal cutting tool. It took a little time, but I cut off one bolt and I instantly had two stars. They are much bigger than I was expecting (I thought they would be more gear like) but I think they have potential! It came with 6 total "shields" for a total of 12 stars.
This isn't my kind of project since I didn't "make" anything. But since I hadn't made anything in awhile, it felt good to accomplish something -- plus a lot of sparks flew, so I say it counts! Now that I have a little breathing room at my shop, I'm excited to get busy. I defintely have Christmas AND JUNK on my brain.

You have a great eye!!! I love the simplicity of this project and the patina on your wonderful stars!

I love old farm implements and would have bought these in a second. You’re right; they make a great holiday junk project.
